Alexis Brailas is a researcher at the Virtual Reality, Internet Research and Education Lab, Department of Psychology, Panteion University of Athens. He has been working for over fifteen years in education with a consistent focus on the development of teaching and learning in virtual and blended environments. He has a special research interest on CoPs, MOOCs and the idea of utilizing or forming a thriving virtual community around a face-to-face class in order to facilitate learning.
Recent projects include the utilization of Wikipedia’s community in Education at college and high school level and the study of the emerging relations between participants; implementation of a blended class, using moodle at high school; wordpress blogs to support blended learning approaches at college courses; and using Alice educational software for computer programming in a 3D environment at high school classes.
