Moscow State University of Psychology and Education

The Moscow State University of Psychology and Education (MSUPE) was established in 1997 on the basis of the Psychological Institute (founded in 1912) – the first in Russia and third in Europe. MSUPE is the main academic institution in Russia that conducts teaching and research in psychology and education. It also specializes in social and clinical psychology, psychological counselling, legal and forensic Psychology, social pedagogy, management, intercultural communication, and media studies. MSUPE includes 44 research laboratories and 27 psychological and research centres. MSUPE actively cooperates with foreign partners with the aim to improve educational process, create a common education space, improve the quality of training specialists, and conduct joint research. 52 agreements with partner institutions have been signed while joint Master’s programs are being implemented (together with the Sapienza University of Rome (Italy), the Plovdiv University “Paisii Khilendarski” (Bulgaria), the University of Neuchatel (Switzerland), and the University of Oulu (Finland). In 2007-2008 within the national priority project “Education” MSUPE was the consultant to the Government of Russia on the applications of educational psychology to school educational programming (4 263 500 €). In the past 4 fiscal years the University has handled different research and education programs amounting to 453 641 € (2007), 5 026 349 € (2008), 580 473 € (2009), 511 605 € (2010). MSUPE publishes 11 academic journals. For a period of three years (2007-2010) the University members published in average 3,51 articles per university member in academic journals and 0,74 books. The DIGIT-M-ED will be led by the International Department of Cultural-Historical Psychology which is English speaking and internationally renowned for its research on the cultural and historical dimensions of learning, human development and education.
